LibPositives Spotlight present Dr. Williametta Simmons

Dr. Williametta Simmons is a licensed psychologist with over 10 years of experience in the mental health field. Dr. Simmons obtained her Doctorate in Psychology and Masters in Business Administration with a concentration in Health Care Management from Widener University.

Dr. Simmons is the owner of Integrative Psychological & Consulting Services (IPCS), located in Bala Cynwyd, Pennsylvania. She specializes in mood and anxiety disorders, marriage and family therapy, trauma, and psychosis, and has expert knowledge on the relationship between culture and mental health. She has taught a variety of international and national workshops on post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), cultural influences of mental health, evidence-based interventions for schizophrenia, and diversity issues in clinical practice. She has also made special media guest appearances discussing mental health issues.  

Dr. Simmons is a supervising psychologist at Temple University Hospital-Episcopal (TUH-E) Campus, where she coordinates an extended acute care pilot program to improve the quality of care and successful community reintegration of individuals with serious mental illness. She also developed and directs the graduate psychology internship program at TUH-E.  

Dr. Simmons is especially passionate about Liberian mental health issues. She is the mental health coordinator of the Liberia Medical Mission team (, a group of diverse healthcare professionals from the diaspora that travels to Liberia semi-annually to provide physical and mental health services to Liberians, Guineans, and Sierra Leoneans.  

Dr. Simmons is the president of the Pennsylvania Psychological Foundation (PPF) and a member of the board of directors of the Pennsylvania Psychological Association (PPA). She is the chair of the Committee on Multiculturalism for PPA and the co-founder of Young E’nnovative Leaders of Liberia (YELL). 

Dr. Simmons works as an assistant professor at Widener University Institute for Graduate Clinical Psychology, an adjunct professor at Temple University School of Medicine in the Department of Psychiatry, and an adjunct professor at Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine. 

In addition to being a member of the PPA, Dr. Simmons is also a member of the American Psychological Association (APA) and the Philadelphia Society of Clinical Psychologists.
